SAP MFS Implementation at ASICS Krefeld

With a team of 3 consultants, we led the implementation of SAP Material Flow System (MFS) at the ASICS European Distribution Center in Krefeld, Germany. The project focused on automating warehouse operations through direct integration between SAP EWM and an Automated Storage and Retrieval sytem delivered by KNAPP

Key Responsibilities:

  • Configuration and deployment of SAP Material Flow System.

  • Consulted ASICS during the vendor selection phase, which ended up as KNAPP as the preferred vendor.

  • Lead consultant of the "internal" flows, including replenishment, counting, stock corrections, warehouse layout.

  • Design of the inbound/outbound/internal process flows.

  • Worked on the development (SAP ABAP) of action function modules the inbound telegram types (16 inbound telegram types)

  • Optimization of the picking and replenishment strategies of the existing high bay (pallet) storage areas in SAP Extended Warehouse Management.

  • Supported testing and go-live activities, including system integration tests (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT), and hypercare.

This implementation plays a critical role in enhancing ASICS' European logistics capabilities, driving operational efficiency and scalability in line with the company’s growing e-commerce and retail distribution needs. We decided that a hybrid implementation of SAP MFS would best suit ASICS & KNAPPs requirements, where we used the interface provided by SAP MFS for communication and alignment between both the WCS and SAP EWM.
